                                                                                     Pride Fighting Announcers

All of the Pride Fighting announcers were pretty awesome and informative, you can learn a lot about MMA strategy and technique just from listening to these announcers during a fight.  In no case did any of the announcers ever sound like they were bloodthirsty, hoping to see the fighters suffer extreme damage. They helped promote the truth that Pride fighting is honorable fighting between skilled warriors.

My particularly favorite announcing duo was Stephen Quadros and Bas Rutten. Those two meshed well; Bas was the technical expert and Quadros did the play-by-play. They were also pretty funny sometimes.  For every fight, they would say something that you can learn from about what to do or not to do during a fight. Mauro Ranallo and Frank Trigg were also good announcers later on.

Another thing about the Pride announcers was that they actually researched the background of the fighters and made informative comments about them. They wouldn’t shamelessly hype them up, or try to make the fight personal between the fighters. This is unlike some other MMA organizations (UFC), who feel it is necessary to include a segment of the fighters talking trash to each other before the fight which is all just a bunch of fluff.  Pride fighters look at a fight much more professionally, like it is simply going out to perform a job and to show your skill and courage.  It’s not personal against the other fighter in over 95% of the cases.

Listening to the Pride fighting announcers will help you learn and appreciate hand-to-hand fighting more.
