                                                                    Judge!...Judge!... Judge!…Ready!…Go!

I just love the beginning of a Pride fight after the initial stare down where both fighters are in their corners ready to go, and the referee yells out to begin the fight, pointing successively at the three judges ringside and says “Judge!…Judge! …Judge! …Ready… Go!” and then the bell rings to begin.  This just gets me so pumped up for the fight.  It is a tradition to begin every Pride fight and it’s awesome.

It is as memorable and famous as the great early UFC referee Big John McCarthy doing the “Are you ready?...Are you ready?....LET’S GET IT ON!” and then the fight begins.  Big John McCarthy’s “LET’S GET IT ON” was a trademark of those early UFC’s, and growing up in the 90’s my friends and I would always imitate him before our fights.  Nowadays, I like Pride’s “Judge!...Judge!...” intro better because it seems more professional, but both Pride’s and Big John’s are great ways to begin a fight.

To just read about this Pride introduction doesn’t do it justice.  Look up a Pride fight and watch the ref begin the fight and you’ll see how cool it was.  It’s also interesting because the ref is saying it with a Japanese accent.

Enjoy!
